OECD’s Environment, Health and Safety News is a newsletter produced about every 8 months that provides updates on events and activities of the OECD Environment, Health, and Safety Programme. Some of the news items in the latest issue, March 2017, are summarized here:

  • The launch of the e.AOP.Portal search engine, the main entry point for the AOP-Knowledge Base
  • 16 recent additions to the “Series on Testing and Assessment” includes reports, case studies, and guidance documents
  • The guidance document from a project on “assessing risks from the combined exposures to multiple chemicals” is expected to be finalized in Q2 of 2017
  • 6 publications were added to the “Series on the Safety of Nanomaterials,” including report No. 80, “Alternative testing strategies in risk assessment of manufactured nanomaterials: current state of knowledge and research needs to advance their use”
  • Two new Test Guidelines (TGs) (Section 4: Health Effects) were adopted by the OECD Council and published on July 29, 2016: (1) “In Vitro Skin Sensitisation: Human Cell Line Activation Test (h-CLAT)” (No. 442E), andStably Transfected Human Androgen Receptor Transcriptional Activation Assay for Detection of Androgenic Agonist and Antagonist Activity of Chemicals” (No. 458)
  • One TG was deleted: “BG1Luc Estrogen Receptor Transactivation Test Method for Identifying Estrogen Receptor Agonists and Antagonists” (TG No. 257)
