Next SBIR/STTR Deadline April 5
Contributor: Catherine Sprankle, NICEATM
The next application deadline for Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants is April 5. The SBIR and STTR grant programs are important sources of early-stage capital for innovative small companies in the United States. These programs allow U.S.-owned and operated small businesses to engage in federal research and development that has a strong potential for commercialization.
NICEATM encourages small businesses that are involved in alternative methods development to explore whether SBIR/STTR grants could support development of test methods that replace, reduce, or refine the use of animals in testing. Links to information about SBIR/STTR grants through NIEHS are available on the NICEATM website.
More information about SBIR/STTR grants will be available at the 18th Annual HHS SBIR/STTR Conference in Orlando, Florida on November 15 – 17, 2016. Conference attendees will learn how to develop and win HHS SBIR/STTR awards. Session topics will include: understanding SBIR/STTR funding solicitations; technical assistance options; indirect costs and financial accounting systems; and human subjects and animal research. Information about the conference and other upcoming SBIR/STTR events is available on the NIH website.
