LUSH PRIZE CONFERENCE 2015- “Adverse Outcome Pathways-what, how and where next?”
Contributor: Rebecca Ram, Lush Prize
We are pleased to announce that the third annual Lush Prize conference is due to be held on Friday 20th November 2015 at RIBA in London (W1B 1AD) between 9.45 am and 4.30pm.
Please arrive for welcome/coffee at 9.45, ready for a 10am start.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Adverse Outcome Pathways – What, How and Where Next?”
Adverse Outcome Pathways map entire sequences of events from exposure to a chemical through to effects at molecular, cellular, tissue and organ level in the body and beyond, to individuals and populations.
They offer the potential to greatly improve prediction of health effects and end the use of animals in safety testing. The first pathway for skin sensitisation has now been mapped and tests involved are undergoing regulatory approval.
But is there realistically an end in sight for animal testing using 21st century technologies? How many pathways will we need to map? And how long might this take?
Join us for a day of discussion on this subject with international winners of the 2015 Lush Prize and keynote speakers. Already confirmed are:
Dr. Gill Langley (Chair) – Senior Science Advisor, Research & Toxicology Department of Humane Society International
Dr. David Basketter – EUROTOX Registered Toxicologist, DABMEB Consultancy, UK;
Dr. Carol Barker – Managing Director and Co-Founder, XCellR8
More speakers will be announced soon. Attendance is free but strictly limted, so early registration is recommended
