This section describes emerging technologies being developed to study the responses of cells and tissue models at the molecular level when they are exposed to chemicals and other toxic substances. Emerging technologies include structure-activity relationship modeling, methods and biomaterials for creating physiologically-relevant cellular models, imaging and assay detection methods for cell-based assays, methods for identifying toxicity pathways and biomarkers, high-throughput and high-content screening methods, bioinformatics, genomics, and integrated testing strategies.
