NTP Offers Travel Awards

Author: Catherine Sprankle, ILS/Contractor supporting NICEATM

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) is seeking to increase awareness and familiarity within the research community with high-throughput screening efforts and associated data and tools, and to foster the training of postdoctoral fellows and new and early-stage investigators in this area. As part of this effort, NTP will provide approximately 10 travel awards to support the costs of attending and participating in a 2015 meeting relevant to this topic being organized by the Environmental Defense Fund. The meeting, “Elucidating Environmental Dimensions of Neurological Disorders and Disease: Understanding New Tools from Federal Chemical Testing Programs” will be held on June 18-19, 2015, at the University of California–Davis.

The travel awards are aimed at new and early-stage investigators considering using high-throughput screening in research to investigate the potential effects of environmental chemicals on neurological disorders and disease. Depending on the number of applications received, priority may be given to applicants who have not previously received a travel award from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The deadline for applying for the awards is February 27.

More information about the awards is available at http://tools.niehs.nih.gov/webforms/index.cfm/main/formViewer/form_id/381.
