Contributor: Marilyn Matevia, HSUS

The US EPA’s National Center for Environmental Assessment (NCEA) is now accepting nominations for experts and topics for its December 16-17 workshop, Advancing Systematic Review for Chemical Risk Assessment. Nominations are due November 5.

From the EPA’s meeting announcement:

“EPA is developing and implementing a systematic review process within the IRIS Program to increase the transparency and clarity related to evaluating evidence and drawing conclusions in ongoing and future assessments. The workshop will examine the development and application of methods for the identification and evaluation of different types of evidence (epidemiology, animal toxicology, and mechanistic). This workshop will build on some of the sessions from previous workshops and further address the practical application of systematic review methodologies to specific elements of IRIS assessments. Specific sessions will focus on:

  • From theory to practice – lessons learned from the evaluation of studies of chemical exposures;
  • Systematic review relating to mechanistic data: what is really needed, and how can it be efficiently applied?”

Registration for the meeting is also now open.
